Arsene Wenger looks set to renew his interest in signing Manchester City star Raheem Sterling when the transfer window opens in January according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The Arsenal manager would see the England winger as a replacement and possible make-weight in a deal that would see Alexis Sanchez move from the Emirates to the Etihad.
The truth is though that Arsenal are going in to a deal like this from a very weak position. Sterling has been in remarkable form for City this season scoring ten goals already and assisting a further two.
Working with Pep Guardiola has clearly been good for the 22-year-old and it’s hard to see why he would want to leave a City side that looks set to win the title at ease for an Arsenal side that will be fighting to get in to the Champions League places.
Arsenal clearly believe that City will do the deal in order to get Sanchez, who they have been pursuing for some time now but with the Chilean out of contract in the summer it seems a lot more likely that they will wait the extra few months, sign him on a free and also keep Sterling.
Whatever happens, with Sanchez and Ozil both likely to leave in the near future, Arsene Wenger will have a big decisions to make come January.
