As the second International break of the season draws to a close, Manchester United look to continue their charge in search of another Premier League winning season.

With all areas of the 2016/2017 United squad being bolstered over the summer transfer window; including additions such as Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and most notably Romelu Lukaku, this new and improved Jose Mourinho squad look a serious force heading into the winter of the 2017/2018 campaign.

The opening seven games have yet to really test this United squad, with their only hiccup so far being a 2-2 draw at Stoke back in September. Racking up a total of 19 goals scored and a mere two conceded, the outlook is encouraging for the players and more importantly the fans as we return to Premier League action this weekend.

However, recent injuries to pivotal players such as record-signing Paul Pogba and the seemingly reinvented Marouane Fellaini will prove a real test of the depth and quality of this United team, as they take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side at Anfield this Saturday.

Liverpool go in to this game with a few concerns of their own too; Sadio Mane has been side-lined for several weeks with a hamstring injury and with the continued uncertainty surrounding the Liverpool defensive line, this will be a test for both teams.

Despite the injury concerns for the Red Devils, the current form of United’s attacking players mean they are threat to any opposition. Youthful, strong and skilful, the sense that a United goal is always on the cards will have their fans feeling confident going in to the game.

Marcus Rashford’s electrifying pace and ability to beat his man with ease surely unsettles even the most established back line. Anthony Martial is another young gun firing on all cylinders, dangerous as a starter or from the bench, his eye for goal ensure he is always a threat.

And finally, the £70m signing of Romelu Lukaku gives United the pace and clinical finishing ability that has been missing in recent years. The experience of Ibrahimović and Rooney last season could only take the Reds so far and they look a totally different side with this youthful attacking trio.

In such a competitive and unpredictable division, with numerous strong outfits all striving for the one piece of silverware, United have started brightly, a victory over Liverpool would show that they mean business as they look to be crowned Premier League champions for the first time since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. For now the question still stands, can United march on?
