Man City v Arsenal – Player Ratings

Manchester City extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points by beating Arsenal 3-1 at the Etihad earlier today. Let’s see how the players rated …

Manchester City

Ederson 7

Almost embarrassed when he allowed a Iwobi strike slip through his fingers, but apart from that another commanding display.

Walker 7

Bombed forward at every opportunity and seems to be enjoying playing under Guardiola.

Stones 6

Lost possession a couple of times when carrying the ball out from the back and looked a little shaky when Arsenal pushed forward in the second period.

Otamendi 6

Lucky to only get booked for a cynical elbow on Lacazette. Has improved this season but still doesn’t convince when put under pressure.

Delph 7

Continues to impress in left-back role.

De Bruyne 8

Scored the all important opener. Uncharacteristically missed the chance to play in team-mates a couple of times late on.

Fernandinho 7

Solid as always. Does all the dirty work that allows his more talented team-mates to thrive.

Silva 9 ( MOTM )

Excellent throughout, the perfect link man between midfield and attack.

Sane 7

His pace and intelligent movement caused Arsenal problems all day.

Sterling 6

Nowhere near the form he has shown in recent weeks, won his side a penalty but fluffed one shocking attempt to play in Sane when clean through.

Agüero 7

Tucked his penalty away nicely.

Gabriel Jesus 7

Came on, scored his goal, job done.

Bernardo Silva N/A

No impact

Gündogan N/A

No impact

Cech 6

Probably should have done better for City’s first. The big man is clearly a great goalkeeper in gradual decline.

Koscielny 5

Not great. Coughed up possession a couple of times and struggled to deal with City’s midfield runners.

Coquelin 6

Ok, considering he is not a centre-back.

Monreal 5

Again not a centre-back. Clumsy challenge on Sterling for penalty.

Bellerín 6

Got forward well, but left the door open for Sane to get in behind on too many occassions.

Ramsey 8

Covered a huge amount of distance and layed on the assist for Lacazette’s goal, his sides best player.

Xhaka 5

Just not good enough as a defensive midfielder for a top level Premier League side.

Kolasinac 7

Solid in defence and got forward well.

Özil 5

Couldn’t fault his work-rate, but really poor in possession.

Iwobi 7

Showed great energy and enthusiasm. If he can add composure in the final third to his game he could be a top player.

Sánchez 5

Ran around a lot, but like Ozil just didn’t make enough of his chances on the ball.

Lacazette 7

Took his goal well.

Giroud N/A

No impact.

Wilshere N/A

No impact.
