Arsenal look in pole position to secure the services of Man City wonder-kid Jadon Sancho ahead of North London rivals Spurs. Spurs already attempted to include the youngster in the Kyle Walker deal, but it looks as if Sancho prefers a move to the Emirates.

Sancho, who is originally from London, is eager to move to Arsenal as he sees a clearer path to first team football in comparison with his chances of breaking into Guardiola’s Man City side. Taking into account the amount of money Pep has spent since taking over at the Ethiad and the quality City already possess in forward areas, Sancho’s decision to seek opportunities elsewhere may well prove a shrewd move.

City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak has previously stated that he expected Sancho to be competing for a place in the first team this season, but after the youngster turned down a contract of £30,000 per week recently he was excluded from City’s pre season tour of the US.

Many fans and neutrals will be surprised by Sancho’s case, as one of the reasons City spent so long courting Guardiola was due to the fact that they saw him as the man to introduce a holistic approach to all age groups at the club and guide youngsters through to the first team.

It seems however, that the need for instant success is too strong to follow through with integrating youngsters into the first team. It seems Pep and City will try to achieve success the same way they have always done since the Abu Dhabi takeover, by outspending everybody.
