Premier League Team of the week

Another weekend of Premier League action has come and gone, which of course means it’s time to pick our Premier League team of the week. Let’s see who made the cut …

Goalkeeper : Lukas Fabianski

A solid and commanding display from the Polish stopper as his side came away from Wembley with a impressive point after their 0-0 draw against Spurs. Most of his eight saves were fairly routine in all honesty, but still a really good showing.

Left-Back : Benjamin Mendy

Ok, I’ll be honest, it was a case of really slim pickings for the left-back spot this week, so Mendy gets the nod for his 92% pass accuracy, but more importantly due to the fact he is now the new Premier League King of social media.

Centre-Back : Federico Fernandez

The ex-Napoli man was instrumental in his side’s superb rearguard action that kept Spurs goalless. Headed, blocked and cleared everything that came his way. Deservedly walked away with the MOTM award.

 Centre-Back : Laurent Koscielny

Put in a captain’s performance in his side’s shockingly solid 0-0 draw away to Chelsea. It sounds fairly obvious, but The Gunners look a much better side when their best defender plays.

Right-Back : Antonio Valencia

Manchester United’s captain scored his best ever goal for The Reds, with a beautifully struck first-time volley from the edge of the area. Put in what has become his normal solid defensive display and caused Everton plenty of problems going forward.

Left-Midfield : Mohamed Salah

Liverpool’s £34 million summer signing scored his third goal in five Premier League games with a clinically taken finish against Burnley. His pace and intelligent movement causes so many problems for opposition teams.

Centre-Midfield : Mario Lemina

As we said in detail here, Southampton’s £15 million summer signing looks a player. Bossed the midfield in his sides 1-0 away win over Crystal Palace.

Centre-Midfield : Kevin De Bruyne

Yet another world-class display from the Belgian. No flicks, no tricks just beautifully efficient, ruthless playmaking from the Premier Leagues best attacking-midfielder.

Right-Midfield : Xherdan Shaqiri

Another goal from outside the box to add to his ever burgeoning collection, all of the diminutive attackers last six goals have come from outside the area. If Mark Hughes is to prove his doubters wrong and have a successful season with the Potters, getting the best out of the Switzerland international on a consistent basis is a must.

Striker : Gabriel Jesus

A goal and a assist from probably the best young player in the world, and we all thought him and Aguero couldn’t play together …

Striker : Sergio Aguero

A brilliant hat-trick by a quite brilliant player. Its now five goals in a week for the highest scoring non-European in Premier League history.
