Didier Drogba is a bonafide Chelsea and Premier League Legend. During his two spells with Chelsea he scored 104 Premier League goals, won 4 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, 1 UEFA Champions League and 2 Golden Boots.

At his best the big Ivorian was simply unplayable, combining unbelievable pace, power and finishing ability. Lets have a look at some of his most memorable strikes …

Arsenal v Chelsea 2009

Very few defences liked the sight of Drogba coming at them, but none disliked him quite as much as Arsenal. During Drogba’s time at Chelsea the Blues absolutely dominated the Gunners with Drogba netting an amazing 16 goals in 16 games against the North London side.

Drogba was a master at the knuckleball free kick and this stunning strike was a perfect demonstration of the technique. Screamer.

Everton v Chelsea 2006

Not only was Drogba a scorer of great goals, he always seemed to score goals when it mattered most to Chelsea. This wonder strike was a 86th minute winner in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.

Schevchenko flicked the ball onto Drogba who smashed a thunderous volley into the back of the net leaving Tim Howard stranded in the Everton goal. Classic Drogba.

Bolton v Chelsea

Like we said in the intro, on his day, Drogba was simply unplayable. This was one of his days. He picked the ball up just inside the Bolton half, ran forward and smashed a 35 yard thunderbastard that flew into the centre of the Bolton net. These are the times when ex-Sky Sport Co-Comm Andy Gray would have said something along the lines of  “you could have had 2 goalkeepers in there, and neither would have got near it.”

Chelsea v Spurs FA Cup Semi Final 2012

This is Drogba at his imperious best. Lampard played a hopeful long ball forward, Drogba, as he so often did, used his strength to back into his man, turned and smashed a powerful shot that flew into the roof of the Spurs goal from an acute angle. Another big goal, by a top top player.

Chelsea v Bayern Munich Champions League Final 2012

Not the most spectacular of Drogba’s goals but probably the 2nd most important he ever scored for Chelsea. With Chelsea down to the bare bones due to injury and suspensions, they were headed for a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the final of the Champions League with only a few minutes to go.

Bayern had battered Chelsea all game, but just as it seemed Chelsea’s epic run in that season’s Champions League was coming to a end, their man for the big occasion popped up with a bullet header at the near post to take the game into extra time.

The great man wasn’t finished there however, and would later score the most important goal in Chelsea history when he netted the winning strike in the penalty shoot out. Legend.
