A Loss To Manchester United Could Cost Conte His Job

The season so far has been a bit of a rollercoaster for Antonio Conte and Chelsea. There have been the highs of that hard fought win away at Atletico and there was the late win against Watford that saw the Italian dive in to the crowd as he celebrated, but then there have been lows too.

The Blues were soundly beaten by Roma in midweek and were embarrassed by Crystal Palace a number of weeks ago. Those mixed results have seen them fall nine points behind league leaders Manchester City and a loss to Manchester United tomorrow would all but end their title defence after just 11 games.

Reports in the Spanish paper Marca suggest that Chelsea’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has already decided to fire Conte and Metro have reported that the Russian visited the club’s training ground at Cobham to discuss recent results.

A win on Sunday could change the narrative but even if they were to get the three points it seems unlikely that the Blues will be challenging for any major honours this term. Conte has been unhappy with some of the transfer dealing’s at the club and has been linked with jobs in Italy and PSG recently so a move might actually suit both parties.

It seems that Conte will be moving on sooner or later but this weekend’s game could determine just how soon that happens.
