Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is being linked with a sensational move for Chelsea defender David Luiz, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The 30-year-old Brazil international is said to be furious with his manager Antonio Conte for dropping him from the match day squad for The Blues last Premier League fixture before the international break, which was ironically a 1-0 win over United.

Conte is thought to have axed the defender for questioning his tactics and his angry reaction to be substituted during the Stamford Bridge club’s clash against Roma.

Although Luiz is said to feel victimized by his coaches actions and believes that his friendship with former Blues striker Diego Costa is unfairly being used against him.

These reports will come as a surprise to many as Mourinho was the Chelsea manager when the club sold the talented defender to PSG for £50 million in 2014, and even went as far as stating that the player would not be missed.

The Portuguese manager is said however to be hugely impressed by the improvements in Luiz’s game over the last couple of years, and United could definitely use a central defender who is comfortable at playing the ball out from the back.

Whether the Chelsea hierarchy would be prepared to sell another player to their former manager after the widespread criticism they received for allowing Nemanja Matic move to Old Trafford earlier this summer remains to be seen though.
