Arsenal ran out comfortable 2-0 winners against Brighton at the Emirates today. Let’s see how the players rated …
Arsenal
Cech 7
Easy afternoon for the experienced stopper, dealt with whatever little action came his way with relative ease.
Holding 7
After some recent horror performances, this steady showing will do his confidence the world of good.
Mustafi 7
Passed the ball out well from the back. Untroubled defensively.
Monreal 8
Took his goal well to open the scoring and put in a solid shift at the back.
Bellerin 8
Bombed forward at every opportunity and it’s noticeable how much his crossing has improved of late.
Kolasinac 7
Looks a real threat going forward, but turned off defensively to allow March in behind him a couple of times in first-half.
Ramsey 7
Covered a lot of ground in the centre, but clearly left his shooting boots at home, as he should have done better with a couple of half chances.
Xhaka 7
Kept things ticking over nicely for his side.
Iwobi 8
Decent performance capped by a superb finish for Arsenal’s second goal.
Sanchez 9 ( MOTM )
Looks back to his best. Full of energy and invention. Beautiful back-heel assist for Iwobi goal and unlucky not to get on the score sheet himself.
Lacazette 7
Smashed the post with a brilliant effort from the edge of the box in the first couple of minutes, but will be disappointed he didn’t do better with a couple of other chances either side of half-time.
Subs
Giroud 6
Failed to make his usual impact off the bench.
Walcott 6
Given 20 minutes to impress, didn’t.
Brighton
Ryan 7
Not at fault for either goal and made some crucial stops.
Bruno 7
Tough day for the 36-year-old Brighton stalwart up against Alexis. Stuck to his task well however.
Duffy 7
Looks more comfortable defending crosses into the box than with the ball at his feet. Always puts in a shift however, and can only improve playing against top-class players every week.
Dunk 7
Can look a little awkward at times, but gave his all. A couple of brilliant defensive blocks and some excellent accuracy with long balls forward.
Bong 6
A mixed bag. Showed great pace and strength at times, but at others looked hesitant on the ball.
March 7
Looked dangerous with the ball at his feet, and cracked a brilliant free-kick off the post in first-half. Looks a player.
Stephens 7
Solid shift. Continues to impress in defensive midfield role.
Propper 6
The step up from Dutch football to the Premier League is obviously a big one and he looked out of his depth at times.
Izquierdo 6
Looks like he needs time to adjust to the English game, decision making was poor on a couple of occasions.
Gross 6
Has put in plenty of fine performances already this season, this wasn’t one of them.
Brown 6
Was asked to play as a central-striker due to injury to Hemed. His movement was decent, but struggled due to a lack of quality service.
Subs
Murray 6
Went close with a near post header.
Knockaert 6
Still waiting to see the type of form that saw him voted Championship player of the season last season.
