Real Madrid vs Manchester United: Worst Penalty Shootout Ever?

Real Madrid and Manchester United’s International Champions Cup game in Santa Clara ended in what must be considered one of the worst penalty shootouts of all time last night.

 

 

United took the lead after Anthony Martial danced through the Real defence before teeing up Jesse Lingard for the simplest of tap-ins. Real hit back mid way through the second half when the Reds’ new centre back Victor Lindelöf  brought down Theo Hernandez in the area and Casemiro smashed home the resulting penalty but that was as good as things got from the spot.

 

The game went straight to penalties after 90 mins and that’s when things got silly. United managed to scrape over the line to register their fourth straight win of the pre-season tour and most of the regular penalty takers were not involved but neither side will have been happy with their showing from 12 yards.
