Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace – Player Ratings

Spurs edged past Crystal Palace in the early kickoff. Were they value for the win or did they get away with it?

Gazzaniga 7.5

Made a number of superb saves to keep his side level.

Sanchez 6

Struggled to deal with the pace of Zaha and Townsend. Should have made it 2-0 with a late header.

Dier 7

Tidy, unspectacular but that’s just what was required of the Englishman.

Vertonghen 8

Looked solid defensively and comfortable on the ball. Never looked in trouble.

Aurier 6

Sloppy in possession a couple of times and was lucky not to be punished. Still struggling to adapt to the pace of the Premier League.

Winks 6

Full of energy and running until he took a knock on the ankle, subbed at half time.

Sissoko 7

Showed a lot of energy and willingness to run at Palace, had a lot of work to do in tracking Townsend’s runs and was on hand to shut down Zaha late on as Palace pushed for an equaliser.

Rose 7

Played some great balls in to the box that should have been rewarded with goals.

Eriksen 7

Looked good in possession, played some great balls in to the box and was able to take control of the midfield once Spurs had gone ahead.

Son 8

Always looked dangerous, playing his team-mates in to decent positions and he took his goal brilliantly.

Kane 6

Probably not fully fit and arguably should have gone off at half time after receiving a knock.

Dembele 6.5

On for the inured Harry Winks, did what was expected of him. Strong on  he ball and in the tackle, Winks will be hoping he’s not out for too long or he may not get back in.

Davies N/A

Llorente 6

An ok if unspectacular cameo, freed up Son to get forward.

Crystal Palace

Speroni 7

Unsighted for Son’s goal, looked solid otherwise.

Ward 7

Battled hard and stopped most of what was put in front of him.

Dann 7

Unlucky to be on the losing side as he restricted Spurs to limited opportunities and might have scored at the other end were it not for a spectacular Gazzaniga save.

Sakho 7

Made some good blocks and did well when one-on-one with Son but looked weak under crosses (at both ends) and the high ball.

Fosu-Mensah 6

He’s got talent but there was also evidence of his inexperience as he gave away the ball too easily and made poor decisions at times.

Loftus-Cheek 7

Worked hard and like many of his team-mates was unlucky to be on the losing side. Looked dangerous from set plays.

Milivojevic 6

Missed a great chance to put Palace ahead when it was 0-0. A free header at the back post, he’ll want to forget that one.

Cabaye 7

Had a few tame efforts at goal but held his own against a very talented midfield.

Schlupp 6

Dithered and ended up being booked as he fouled Aurier. Had his hands full and just about got away with it defensively but wasn’t afraid to get forward either.

Townsend 7

Seemed to relish the opportunity to play against his former team mates and was full of running and attacking threat.

Zaha 7

Should have put Palace ahead around the hour mark when he rounded the keeper but put it wide. Plenty of bright moments and is clearly their best player but that was the chance.

Sako 6

Brought on with 15 minutes to go to give Spurs a different set of problems to deal with. Put himself about a bit but not much else.
